Can I Really Get Free Solar Panel Funding?
Yes, the current schemes are funded by the government as part of the Warmer Homes Scheme. The options are completely backed by your local council.
The funding is meant to upgrade homes in the UK and improve the qualify of life for those with poorly insulated or low-energy efficient homes.

How Does Solar System Funding Work With CRG Direct?
We’ll ask you a few questions about your home and energy situation. We’ll use those details to submit an application to your local council and get funding approved through solar panel grants in the UK.
Legally, we have to use a ‘Whole-house Approach.’ This means we have to upgrade the house in the most energy-efficient way, which means you may receive a second free upgrade, such as storage heaters, air-source heat pumps, or insulation (as well as solar!)
It’s free and no obligation. CRG gets awarded the contract for the work if you qualify, and you receive completely free upgrades to improve homes and reduce carbon emissions. If you qualify but change your mind, you don’t have to do anything.
What Could You Receive?
If eligible, your property will undergo a survey to identify the most effective energy efficiency measures.
Prioritized measures include:
insulation (external/internal wall, loft, and cavity wall)
air source heat pumps
smart heating controls
solar PV
and more.
Eligibility Criteria
For Homeowners and Private Renters:
To qualify, you must meet one of the following income criteria:
A household income of £36,000 or less (excluding specific benefits).
Live in a property not connected to mains gas for central heating.
Reside in a property with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, G.
For Landlords:
Landlords may be eligible if:
Their tenants meet the income criteria
The property lacks mains gas for primary heating
And they own four or fewer private rental properties.
Who Can Get Solar Panel Funding?
Since coming into effect on 1 January 2020, the HUG2 grant aims to make solar and air source heat pump funding available to all low-income, off-gas grid homes.
Grants are can be given to both owner-occupied and privately rented homes that are rated EPC band D-G. The scheme aims to help people save money on their energy bills.

What Happens Next?
Upon eligibility confirmation for solar panel funding, your property will be assigned a Retrofit Coordinator to guide you through the process.
Our Retrofit Coordinator team member will see which home improvement measures would be best for your case.
If you approve and are happy with the suggested solar panel grant or air source heat pump plan, we’ll schedule your installation.
After completion, you'll receive a comprehensive handover pack, including operation manuals and warranties.
Additional Information
Previous funding under the Green Home Grants scheme may affect eligibility.
The property must be off-gas for heating, excluding gas cookers.
Installations are subject to property type, permission, and funding caps.
